Fight The Good Fight...Finish the Race

Ok so I havent posted in a few days...so sorry! Things have been quite crazy with just living life. I have enjoyed a relaxing weeked with the wonderful boyfriend and of course the worlds greatest dog dixie:) But on to what this post is about...first let me say that this is near and dear to my heart and I hope that anyone reading this will pray, engage, donate and follow the story of TEAM BAKER. I grew up in Bowling Green, KY and also attended church there I was very close to my youth pastor and his family...in many ways they changed my life through Christ...They have a son that was born with disablities. And let me say that he is an AMAZING KID! So I want to share there story...

On June 30th 2004 Eric and Laura Baker celebrated the birth of their son Elijah "Cash" Baker. Several months after Cash's birth they began to notice that he was not developing as quickly as other children his age and decided to get him evaluated.

After a series of test, evaluations, and doctor visits it was determined that Cash had Cerebral Palsy and unless a miracle took place would live the rest of his life mentally disabled. This news brought with it many tears, hurt, pain, and questions about their future and what was best for Cash.

The Baker's began to seek medical advice and Cash started theropy to help him with his disabilities. Eric and Laura were determined to try and raise Cash like any other child.

Cash is now 6 years old and has a little sister named Ava. They are both amazing beautiful children who are filled with life and adventure. Cash loves to play outside, ride go-carts, and swim. His smile is contagious and his laughter heals. However, it has been difficult for them to find and activity the family can do together and also encourage others who are in similar sitiuations or experiencing their own personal storm.

Several years ago at church Eric watched a video of a father and son team running called Team Hoyt. Rick was born with Cerebral Palsy and his father Dick, began to push him in races all over the country. (www.teamhoyt.com)

This inspirational story laid the foundation for Eric and Laura to begin creating their own team. With the help of their friends and family all over the United States the resources were raised to buy some initial equipment and TEAM BAKER was birthed.

This story is amazing...it touches my heart in so many ways! I have also linked there website so please check it out! http://www.runningwithteambaker.com/STARTING_LINE.html
